UK Jewish Film Festival 2009 presents Good Intentions/ Behind the Intentions

Dir. Uri Barbash | Israel | 2008 | Episode 4 I 45 mins | Hebrew and Arabic with English subtitles

This ground-breaking TV drama directed by the Oscar nominated veteran Israeli director Uri Barbash centres around two female chefs, one Palestinian and one Israeli, co-hosting a cookery show despite intense opposition from their respective communities. During the making of this contentious “show within a show”, the two women- Amal, a  Palestinian from Ramallah and Tami, an Israeli restaurant owner, develop an intimate bond which defies the uncompromising opposition each faces from among their own friends and family as two ordinary people on the opposite sides of a seemingly irresolvable conflict.
