Town Hall Talks

Town Hall Talks is a series of heritage-focused events produced in collaboration with local organisations, residents and artists which explore themes and issues relevant to those who call Brent and North West London home – platforming the heritage, stories and talent of Kilburn with live music, panel discussions, short films and food. 

Le hÉireannaigh uile Kilburn (The Irish of Kilburn)

Thursday 14 March

Featuring: an exhibition of textile art, The Kilburn Tapestries by Electronic Sheep; live music; an Irish language talk by Bharain Mac an Bhreithiun; and a screening of short films by Electronic Sheep.

 

Bass Tone: Sounds of South Kilburun

Monday 25 March

Celebrating and platforming the heritage of Brent Soundsystem culture, Bass Tone features: Recipe for a Happy Mind, a workshop and afternoon tea with Kilburn Older Voices Exchange; Mango Frequencies, a relaxed meditative session; Create Your Own Sound System workshop with pupils from Kilburn Grange Park Primary School; Show us your Moves dance workshop; a sound system sculpture; a photo booth and costume area; conversation areas; and discussions around music and heritage originating in South Kilburn, hosted by Linett Kamala.

Latin American House Festival

Monday 29 October

This multidisciplinary arts festival hosted by Latin American House as part of their 40th year will celebrate the work of Latin American artists and invite audiences to participate in practical workshops, watch performances and films.

The festival will include: The Happy Homeless, a theatre performance by Laura Mobilia which follows the journey of a woman from Argentina to London and the adventures she encounters along the way; El Limite, a theatre performance by Wendy Sanchez, in which two rival gang members find themselves in isolation with only each other for support in finding their way back to reality; An acting workshop with Gledys Ibarra; A music workshop with Angelica Lopez; A visual art exhibition; A practical performance workshop for children and young people and, to end the event, we will host the Latin American House 48 Hour Film Challenge screenings and awards ceremony.

Celebrating Our Stories: The Kilburn High Road Project is a three-year place-based project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund with thanks to National Lottery players. Through co-creation, Kiln will work with organisations, residents and community groups to share stories ad celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the area.
