Touché is a British comedy-drama from debut writer-director-star Parvinder Shergill. It follows Deep (Parvinder Shergill), a British South Asian woman who is stuck in a rut and decides to shake up her life by taking up the unlikely sport of fencing. At her local club she clashes with Kate (Kayleigh-Paige Rees), a highly skilled but guarded fencer who is reluctant to accept a newcomer into the fold, creating tension on and off the piste. Deep gradually forms an unexpected friendship with Tom (Matthew Lewis), another club member whose easy charm hides a personal secret, and the film follows how these three navigate ambition, identity and belonging through the absurdities and small victories of an amateur fencing world.
Founded in 1997, the UK Asian Film Festival (UKAFF) celebrates cinema’s power to connect, challenge, and inspire. Showcasing award-winning filmmakers from across the globe, UKAFF offers bold storytelling that expands perspectives and deepens appreciation of film and television.
Returning for its 28th edition, from Fri 1 – Sun 10 May the festival welcomes diverse audiences to experience feature films, documentaries, shorts, long shorts, animations, and experimental work.
The 2026 theme, ‘Stories That Bind Us’, explores identity, belonging, migration, love, and loss, revealing the universal human search for connection and meaning. Through screenings, filmmaker Q&As, and special events, audiences are invited to engage more deeply with both the stories on screen and the creative voices behind them.
