Love Jones

Take a trip back to ‘90s in this cult classic romance set in Chicago spoken word poetry scene. Darius (Larenz Tate) can’t seem to get Nina (Nia Long) off his mind after a meet-cute at a poetry night. But she is still entangled with her ex-fiancé Marvin. So begins the bittersweet, heartfelt tale of their love, told with plenty of down-to-Earth humour from their long-suffering friends.

Love Jones has become beloved for its genuine take on Black love, never falling into cliché or cheap gags (despite the great comedy throughout). With a soundtrack dripping with ‘90s R&B classics – Lauren Hill, Maxwell and The Brand New Heavies among them – this is a brilliant nostalgic trip that is as fresh today as on release.
