Extra Geography

It’s the early 2000s, and Minna and Flic are devoted best friends at an English boarding school. They have their eyes set on Oxbridge, but are convinced they need to become more worldly to be accepted. Inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream, they vow to fall in love with the first person they lay their eyes on. This turns out to be an unlikely paramour: their dowdy geography teacher Miss Delavigne.

Teen girls have a strong track record at the movies and Extra Geography sits comfortably against greats such as Heathers, Clueless and Booksmart (albeit in a distinctly British form). BAFTA-nominated director Molly Manners (One Day) shows real skill and humour in her brilliant debut, a deliciously offbeat gem.
