Arrive Build Create

Arrive Build Create, formerly known as Minding the Gap has been running for over 20 years.

We deliver weekly drama sessions for newly arrived EAL (English as an Additional Language) students aged 14-18 in local partner schools and colleges. The groups work towards short films and live theatre performances working with creative professionals to realise their ideas.

100% of teachers surveyed agreed that MTG improved participants’ confidence in speaking English

90% of participants surveyed had no previous experience of learning drama

68% of participants last year progressed at least stages in language learning

We deliver opportunities for participants who wish to develop their skills further, through the Arrive Build Create Trainee programme; a facilitation training programme paid at London Living Wage. We also run Arrive Build Create Young Company; a holiday performance project. We also have a free Resource Pack for EAL/ESOL teachers to learn more about the Arrive Build Create methodology.

‘Students now feel confident and they can speak English very well. They can talk to eachother using English from the Drama lessons. They loved it and they became more confident when they are performing drama or taking a character role. Friday is a special day for them as they learn to work as a team and enjoy’  Teacher feedback
