Judgment at Nuremberg

Wed 6 Jul 2011 – Sat 9 Jul 2011

By Abby Mann

“The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing”

Following the success of the initial Tricycle Lawyers’ 2001 production of Twelve Angry Men, and the three subsequent productions Are You Now Or Have You Even Been? (2003), Inherit The Wind (2005) and To Kill A Mockingbird (2008), the Tricycle Theatre welcomes a company of legal professionals to its stage in a fundraising production of Judgment at Nuremberg.

One of the most important records of the Holocaust, Judgement at Nuremberg is as potent and relevant as ever, and the Nuremberg trials remain a model for international criminal tribunals. Mann’s overwhelming compassion strikes at the heart of human suffering and yet reaffirms humanity and justice.

“Under the stress of a national crisis, ordinary men – even able and extraordinary men – can delude themselves into the commission of crimes and atrocities so vast and heinous as to stagger the imagination.”

The proceeds from the performances will go towards the Tricycle’s Education, Social Inclusion and Artistic Programme. Proceeds from Thursday night’s performance will be equally split between the Tricycle and the Corinne Burton Memorial Trust (supporting Art Therapy in Cancer Care).
