My Neighbour Totoro

  • 86 mins

One of the great gems of animated cinema, Hiyao Miyazaki’s (Spirited Away, The Boy and the Heron) My Neighbour Totoro is now back on the big screen. If the recent Royal Shakespeare Company stage adaptation has made you want to revisit (or discover) the tale of the loveable beast in your back garden, now is the time to see it, whether you are young or just have a spirit that seeks adventure.

Professor Tatsuo moves to the country with his two daughters Satsuki and Mei to be close to the hospital where their mother is convalescing. As they move in, strange spirits are stirring in their house. Soot monsters and small spirits lead the girls deeper into the woods, where the children meet the colossal Totoro and the manic Catbus. Genuinely magical and gently affecting, this is one of the crowning achievements from the iconic Studio Ghibli and its maestro Hiyao Miyazaki, shown in both dubbed versions and with English subtitles and original Japanese dialogue.
