Wild Horse Nine

From the director of In Bruges and The Banshees of Inisherin comes this loopy ride with conspiracies, calamities and rich black humour. John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell star as Chris and Lee, CIA agents sent to foment the Chilean coup of 1973. But before they do, they head to Easter Island to see the heads and indulge in R&R. But meeting two left wing students sends them on a wild goose chase with mortal stakes.

Wild Horse Nine once again displays Martin McDonagh’s talent for bundling mortally consequential philosophy into acid humour. John Malkovich has rarely been better, wearing all the weariness of a man who has built a career on government-approved chicanery. Witty and irreverent but dripping with wider implications, this is a delicious romp with brains.
