We're recruiting Kiln Community Collaborators
Kiln Theatre are looking for a new cohort of three enthusiastic individuals keen to develop their skills working in participatory arts. Kiln Community Collaborators is a yearlong paid (London Living Wage) traineeship for people aged 18+ who live, learn or earn in Brent or Kilburn, and have a passion to pursue a career in the performing and creative arts. Participants will be upskilled in all areas of Kiln’s Creative Engagement department and the wider industry. This traineeship is an opportunity to explore non-performance roles available in the arts and enhance knowledge and skills in a supportive welcoming environment.
Kiln Community Collaborators will be embedded in the work of Kiln, supporting on a weekly basis with project producing, administration, workshop assisting, events support, marketing and recruitment. As well as hands on practical experience, participants will attend monthly bespoke skills building sessions delivered by visiting industry professionals and Kiln staff.
Previous skills building sessions have included:
- Theatre making with ESOL groups
- Producing your own projects
- Facilitation with community groups
- Techniques for devising with young people
- LGBTQ+ Theatre making
- Fundraising and applications
Kiln Community Collaborators will support Celebrating Our Stories: the Kilburn High Road Project, Youth Theatres and other partnership projects.
Weekly contact hours (4 hours per week) take place at Kiln, occasional sessions may take place offsite in an alternative community setting and some sessions/ events will take place in the evening. Schedules are codesigned with the team to work around your other commitments.
Previous Kiln Community Collaborators have gone on to the following:
- Assistant Stage Manager at Hamilton, West End
- Studying MA Applied Theatre at RCSSD
- Further Actor and/or Facilitator Training
- Secured employment as Lead and Assistant Practitioners at multiple arts organisations and at Kiln.
