In this French comedy, Blandine (Olivia Côte) is in the doldrums: her husband has left her, pitching in with someone half her age, and her son is flying the nest. Enter Magalie (Call My Agent’s Laure Calamy), her childhood friend whose wild side has not dimmed across the decades. Reigniting a teenage pact to visit the Greek island of Amorgos, it soon becomes clear that Magalie has more than a touch of the grifter about her, leading to some dubious (and hilarious) moments as they meet up with Magalie’s estranged friend Bijou (Kristen Scott Thomas).
Playing like a female-focused version of the pleasures of Mamma Mia! (minus Abba), this is a light, sun-soaked treat, elevated by three very strong central performances. Perfect if you want to skip onto Kilburn High Road as though you’ve just landed on holiday!
