Wes Anderson returns, following Asteroid City with another crisply symmetrical, cameo-stuffed screwball tour de force. Zsa-zsa Korda (Benicio del Toro) is a businessman magnate, but is tired of his work, so bequeaths his wealth to his daughter, Liesel (Mia Threapleton), a nun. Unfortunately, this puts a target on both their backs, as Korda begins a new venture that will see them pursued by a ragtag band of tycoons, terrorists and assassins.
Debuting at the Cannes Film Festival, Anderson shows his trademarks once again here: witty, clipped dialogue, fantastical, jaw-dropping sets and a cavalcade of actors from around the world (including a significant British contingent of Riz Ahmed, Richard Ayoade, Benedict Cumberbatch and Rupert Friend). Sure to be an arthouse smash, this is another classic from one of modern cinema’s maestros.
