Tornado

In 1790s Scotland, Tornado (Kôki) assists her former samurai master father in his puppet show. Yet her life is tipped upside down when she becomes the unexpected bearer of a cache of stolen gold. She is pursued by Sugarman (Tim Roth) and his son Little Sugar (Slow Horses’ Jack Lowden), in a thrilling samurai-infused chase across wild landscapes.

Featuring stunning cinematography by Robbie Ryan (Poor Things), Tornado is a visual treat as well as an ambitious follow up to Slow West by Scottish director John McClean. Like that film, Tornado plays with the tropes of the Western, but also makes time for its central characters and goes down its own wild paths. Set against a lawless world, will it be the gangs or those who confront them who win out?
