01 May - 07 May 2026

  • Directed by Mark Jenkins
  • Starring George MacKay, Callum Turner, Francis Magee and Edward Rowe
  • 114 mins

Mark Jenkin follows Bait and Enys Men with a new study of Cornish coastal life, working with George McKay (1917) and Callum Turner (Fantastics Beasts) as well as his established acting company of locals.

When the fishing boat the Rose of Nevada bobs into harbour, thought lost at sea thirty years prior, Nick (MacKay) and Liam (Turner) sign on as its crew. Returning with a full nets from their first launch, they find themselves tumbling through time. But is living in the past the best option for them when the future holds little hope?

For those uninitiated into Jenkin’s unique aesthetic and concerns, this is a terrific entry point. Jenkin engages with the generational displacement in Cornish fishing with far more than naturalism, revealing a paint-peeled haunted present. Magical realism and uncanny 16mm visuals and sound combine to make this a gem that’ll come back to you like the lapping waves.
