Refugee Week Double Bill

For Refugee Week 2026, we’re screening two feature documentaries which shed light on Britain’s relationship with migrants, followed by special events designed to deepen understanding of the real people behind these stories.

Hostile, with Q&A

18 June, 6 - 8.20pm

Told through the stories of four participants from Black and Asian backgrounds, this documentary reveals the impact of the evolving ‘hostile environment’ – a term used by the UK government in 2012 to illustrate the atmosphere they wanted to create for migrants, with the intention of provoking them to leave of their own accord. Director Sonita Gale will be joining us for a Q&A following this screening.
