12 - 15 Youth Theatre
The 12-15 Youth Theatre are free weekly sessions for young people who live or go to school in Brent. The group meet every Saturday from 11am-12.30pm. Sessions are led by professional facilitators, directors and creatives, and work to produce theatre, film or audio plays. The Youth Theatre is a space for young people to connect, build confidence, develop creative skills.
The Maze was developed through conversations with the participants about journeys, feeling lost, and searching for something both physically and mentally. Throughout the process, the participants were upskilled in various areas including voice acting techniques for audio-drama, animation and movement/choreography. The group were supported by industry professionals to realise their multi-disciplinary and sensory production of The Maze, which was performed at Kiln Cinema in July 2024.
‘Youth Theatre is inclusive and involve[s] everyone and it’s fun to spend time with others.’
‘I enjoyed our chemistry and how well we work together and having so much fun but doing so much work at the same time.’
‘I am a supervising social worker for [a] Fostering Agency. One of my young people is part of the youth theatre group and I have seen such an amazing change in her since joining the youth group.’
