Kiln Community Collaborators NEW

Kiln Community Collaborators is a yearlong paid (London Living Wage) traineeship for people aged 18+ who live, learn or earn in Brent or Kilburn, and have a passion to pursue a career in the performing and creative arts. Kiln Community Collaborators will be upskilled in all areas of Kiln’s Creative Engagement department and the wider industry. This traineeship is an opportunity to explore non-performance roles available in the arts and enhance knowledge and skills in a supportive welcoming environment.

We are recruiting

We is looking for two local people to join our Creative Engagement team as Trainees Facilitators as part of this year’s Kiln Community Collaborators programme.   

This paid, year-long traineeship is a chance to build skills and confidence in delivering arts-based projects with community groups, with a particular focus on facilitation. Trainees will gain hands-on experience alongside mentorship and coaching from the Kiln team and guest professionals.  

What you’ll do

The main focus of the traineeship will be supporting a large-scale Intergenerational Community Production with participants aged 7-107. You’ll help plan and deliver weekly sessions, support participants during the rehearsal process, and play an active part in the production week and the final performances in summer 2026.  

You’ll also contribute to other Creative Engagement projects, such as: 
  • Town Hall Talk events – supporting local organisations to host events at Kiln 
  • Community Advisory Board meetings (bi-monthly) 
  • Pop-up events on Kilburn High Road as part of the Kilburn High Road Project 
During the traineeship, you’ll gain hands on experience of: 
  • Preparing spaces and supporting the delivery of practical workshops  
  • Overseeing the administration and communication with participants 
  • Encouraging participants’ engagement with creative material 
  • Supporting with pastoral support for individual participants 
  • The process of devising an ambitious community production
  • Planning sessions alongside the Director and Assistant Practitioner
  • Understanding the production process for a large-scale show 
  • Supporting evaluation with participants and audiences 
  • Coordinating communications with different teams across the theatre

This is a paid role at London Living Wage (hourly).; The traineeship will run November 2025-September 2026 (for one role) and January 2026 -September 2026 (for the second role). 

We are recruiting: 
  • 1 Trainee (November start): Thursdays, 3.30pm-8.30pm 
  • 1 Trainee (January start): Mondays, 3pm-9pm 
  • Additional ad hoc days will be required to support other projects, based on availability. 
Who we’re looking for: 
  • Someone with a passion for and interest in learning about facilitation and community arts projects 
  • Strong communication skills  
  • Enjoys working with people 
  • No previous facilitation experience needed – this is a learning role.  
  • Open to applicants of all ages, but must be ready and willing to take on a learning role  
  • This is specifically for Brent based residents  
  • Must be able to work in person at Kiln theatre for all project activity 
  • Must be available for the whole training programme on either Mondays or Thursdays(with some flexibility for working on other projects ad hoc)

2024

The 2024 Kiln Community Collaborators assisted on  the Community Advisory Board, Town Hall Talks, Dementia Friendly Screenings and Tickets, Teas and Tours. They have also participated in monthly skills building sessions ranging from Producing, Facilitation for Communities, Theatre making for and with LGTBQ community groups and Workshop and project design for ESOL groups. These sessions have been delivered by Kiln staff and external industry professionals.

2025

This year, three Community Collaborators have joined the programme, and will work closely with Kiln’s Creative Engagement Projects. We are now recruiting for two further Kiln Community Collaborators, who will support projects into 2026.
