When Zain runs away from his neglectful and impoverished home, he finds himself the sole carer of a one-year-old infant. Forced to use all his resourcefulness to survive on the streets, he is confronted with a series of choices which lead him to imprisonment, where he decided to sue his parents for giving birth to him.

Nadine Labaki’s extraordinary film, which won the 2018 Cannes Jury Prize, is a moving depiction of child poverty, boasting exceptional performances by non-professional actors.
