The director of Top Gun: Maverick goes back into pole position for this supremely entertaining story of burnt rubber and singed egos. Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) is a former champion F1 racer, running in third gear for decades after a traumatic crash. But when he’s called up by team owner Ruben (Javier Bardem) to mentor rising star Joshua (Damson Idris), he must get back in the driving seat to chase the chequered flag again.

Regardless of whether you are a Grand Prix devotee, director Joseph Kosinski has crafted a technically superb action-drama with well-rounded characters. Kerry Condon’s Kate is the rare action heroine who is more than a sidekick or love interest (though her chemistry with Brad Pitt is undeniable). A summer blockbuster that doesn’t disappoint.
