Four Mothers

Edward (James McArdle) is devoted to his mother (Fionnula Flanagan), but called to the United States by an unexpected surge in popularity in his gay romance novelist career. But for now he’s grounded, as his best friends head to Mallorca for a hedonistic trip, leaving him behind to care for all four of their mothers, and face up to why he can’t break out of small town life.

An adaptation of well-loved Italian drama Mid-August Lunch (2008), Four Mothers has been winning hearts on the festival circuit and a fitting follow up to playwright brothers Darren and Colin Thornton’s debut A Date for Mad Mary.
