Based on real events, this German World War II drama is a story of courage and the redeeming power of love. Hilde Coppi (Liv Lisa Fries) is accused of aiding Russian secret messages to beyond the clutches of the Gestapo. Detained while heavily pregnant, she looks back to the summer where her romance with fellow resistance fighter Hans (Johannes Hegemann) blossomed.

A story of the factors – personal and political – that move people towards courage, From Hilde with Love is a poignant but life-affirming story of hope in the darkest circumstances. Backed by two powerful performances, this is an entrancing and inspiring love story.

Little Shrew

Directed by Kate Bush

Before From Hilde With Love, we’ll be showing a brand new short film directed by Kate Bush.

Little Shrew is a four-minute animated short following the titular little shrew as she works her way through a war-torn city, set to the Kate Bush song ‘Snowflake’. Sharing the anti-war themes of the main feature, we’re delighted to offer this short film as an optional extra for cinemas and audiences coming to see From Hilde, With Love. The short’s upcoming cinema play is already attracting media interest, with NME covering it yesterday. Official synopsis is as follows:

A little shrew searches for Hope as she makes her way across a bombed-out city. Blissfully unaware of the dangers surrounding her, she journeys through a war-torn Land of the Giants. Stunned and caught up in an explosion as the city is being bombed during a drone attack, she recovers and manages to continue her search for Hope…
