Intermission + Intro

We are proud to be hosting the first UK screening of the new restoration of Intermission (2003). Written by renowned Irish playwright and screenwriter Mark O’Rowe, he will be join us on stage to introduce the film, discussing his screenwriting career (Normal People, Boy A) and the journey from page to screen of this landmark piece of 21st century Irish cinema. Intermission was crucial in establishing the screen careers of generational talents Cillian Murphy and Colin Farrell as part of an extraordinary cast alongside Colm Meaney, Kelly Macdonald and Shirley Henderson.

This high-octane crime thriller – directed by John Crowley (We Live in Time, Brooklyn) sees lives of criminals, police, filmmakers and lovers collide as Detective Lynch (Meaney) pursues his nemesis Lehiff (Farrell) through bank robberies, bus crashes and breakups over the course of one wild day in Dublin, 2003.
