Pray For Our Sinners

A powerful documentary that tells the story of the resistance of ordinary Irish people who against the Catholic church’s brutal treatment of women and children. Full of hope, as well as frank testimony, the film lays bare the truth of what many endured. This is a poignant and personal film from journalist Sinéad O’Shea (A Mother Brings Her Son To Be Shot).

O’Shea returns to her hometown of Navan in County Meath, a flashpoint in the exposure of the church’s misdeeds, as priests blocked the news of abuse in schools. But the documentary opens out to become a thorough investigation of how church and state were insidiously intertwined. Pulling no punches, Prayers for Our Sinners nonetheless is a testament to the power of redemption in unthinkable circumstances.
