Pressure

The fate of the world hangs on the weather in this World War II drama. As the allies prepare to mount Operation Overlord, meteorologist James Stagg (Andrew Scott) is charged with electing the perfect climate conditions for the D Day landings. Breathing down his neck as they come down to the wire is US General Dwight D. Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser).

Adapting David Haig’s play into an expansive drama, Pressure is still a terrific chamber piece, a pressure front that no storm front can relieve. It’s requires a feat of acting to convince that weather reports are gripping stuff, but luckily Andrew Scott has the talent to put this up there with the major World War II dramas.
