A gathering to remember

On an island off the west coast of Ireland, a family is gathering, and a storm is brewing.

When an unexpected visitor drops by, tensions begin to surface. Over the next 24 hours, scores will be settled, beliefs challenged, and truths disclosed, ultimately jeopardising their very future together.

This funny and gripping family drama makes its UK debut following its critically acclaimed première at Galway International Arts Festival 2024.

Ian was awarded Best Supporting Actor at The Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards for his performance in Druid’s The Beacon at the Gate Theatre in 2020.

Venetia Bowe

Janice

Venetia most recently played in Druid Theatre Company’s nationwide touring production of Sean O’Casey’s Three Short Comedies. Further credits include Gina Moxley’s Danti-Dan for Livin’ Dred; the part of Joy in the critically-acclaimed production Lost Lear which was devised with Dan Colley for Dublin Theatre Festival; The Stars & Stripes Shaded Green, Three Short Comedies by Sean O’Casey and DruidGregory, all directed by Garry Hynes for Druid; Asking for It, directed by Annabelle Comyn for Landmark Productions and The Everyman; Rough Magic’s Much Ado About Nothing; This Beach (Brokentalkers), and Nora, a version of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House adapted by Belinda McKeon and Annie Ryan (Corn Exchange). 

Screen credits include Edna O’Brien’s Joyce’s Women as part of the production at the Abbey Theatre; Baths directed by Nell Hensey; the role of Katya in the Irish/Finnish co-production Cold Courage directed by Agneta Fagerström-Olsson for Luminoir, The Fall of the House of Piecraft directed by TJ O’Grady-Peyton; the BBC Arts programme Imagine: Edna O’Brien; and the lead role in Oonagh Kearney’s experimental dance short, Five Letters to a Stranger who will Dissect my Brain, a collaboration with Junk Ensemble based on a poem by Doireann Ní Ghríofa.

Venetia holds a Bachelor in Acting degree from The Lír Academy at Trinity College Dublin (in partnership with RADA).

Stephen Brennan

Felix

Stephen Brennan was last seen at Galway International Arts Festival as the Captain in Woyzeck in Winter, produced by Landmark Productions and GIAF. The production was subsequently seen at the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin, and at the Barbican in London in 2017.

Stephen became a member of the Abbey Theatre company in 1975, remaining for eight years, playing a wide variety of roles, including the Abbey’s first Hamlet in 1983. He spent a year at the Royal National Theatre in London in 1984, and since then has done a large body of work at the Gate Theatre Dublin, including Waiting for Godot (national tour and worldwide). His other performances at the Gate include Higgins in Pygmalion, Rochester in Jane Eyre, Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, Garry in Present Laughter and the title roles in Tartuffe, Cyrano de Bergerac, The Life of Galileo, Da and Oedipus.

His other favourite roles include Blackbird (Landmark Productions); Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Show and Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew. In 2013, he played Captain Boyle in Joe Dowling’s production of Juno and the Paycock at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, and more recently appeared as the Man in Marina Carr’s The Cordelia Dream, streamed by The Irish Rep, New York, 2021 and last year as Sebastian in Nancy Harris’ Somewhere Out There You at the Abbey Theatre.

His film and television credits include The Woman in the Wall; The Last Duel; Cherry; Panto; The Tudors; Eat the Peach; The General; The Boys and Girl from Clare; A Piece of Monologue; Waiting for Godot; Ballykissangel; Father Ted; and Bachelors Walk.

Leonard Buckley

Ciaran

Leonard was educated at Trinity College Dublin and trained at RADA. 

Leonard’s theatre credits include Brian Friel’s Translations (Lyric Belfast and Abbey Theatre) and The Long Song (Chichester Festival Theatre)

Recent TV credits include the new adaptation of the hit FX series Say Nothing, The Velveteen Rabbit for Apple TV+, Julian Fellowes’ The Next Chapter for Epix and Hulu’s hit series The Great alongside Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult. 

Leonard made his film debut in Kenneth Branagh’s Oscar-winning feature Belfast alongside Dame Judi Dench, Ciarán Hinds and Jamie Dornan. He has gone on to film the Irish-American independent thriller Big House

Simone Collins

Holly

Simone’s theatre credits include Mark O’Rowe’s version of Ibsen’s Ghosts (Landmark Productions and the Abbey Theatre); A Christmas Carol and The Great Gatsby (Gate Theatre); and The Wizard of Oz (Cork Opera House).

Simone recently starred in the Irish horror feature All You Need Is Death. Her other feature film credits include Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel and the thriller Barber, starring alongside Aidan Gillen. On television, Simone was seen in Conversations With Friends alongside Joe Alwyn, Alison Oliver, Jemima Kirke and Sasha Lane. Her other credits include Quantico for ABC. 

In 2019, Simone was named one of Ireland’s Hottest Young Talents to Watch by the Irish Times.

Peter Corboy

Maurice

Peter is a London-based actor. He trained at Trinity College Dublin and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Peter’s recent stage credits include Hothouse (Malaprop, Project Arts Centre and Irish Arts Center), Theatre for One (Landmark Productions); Multiple Casualty Incident (The Yard Theatre); Ulysses (Jermyn Street Theatre); Before You Say Anything (Malaprop and Dublin Fringe Festival); Much Ado About Nothing and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (Rough Magic)

Recent TV credits include Bad Sisters Season 2 (AppleTV); The Vanishing Triangle (AMC+ and Virgin Media) and Fair City (RTÉ).

Peter can next be seen in A Moon for the Misbegotten at the Almeida Theatre, London. 

Desmond Eastwood

Stuart

Desmond was born in Belfast, North of Ireland. Recent stage credits include Once Before I Go (Gate Theatre); The Lieutenant Of Inishmore (Gaiety Theatre); and Blackout (Lyric Theatre). 

He most recently appeared on screen as Colton in Old Guy, directed by Simon West for 23ten, opposite Christoph Waltz and Lucy Liu. Other recent screen credits include the roles of DS Murray Canning in the BAFTA nominated series Blue Lights for BBC, and Lieutenant John Wilson in Stormskerry Maja, directed by Tiina Lymi for Solar Films.

Other screen credits include In the Land of Saints and Sinners (Netflix) which premiered at last year’s Venice Biennale, The Last Rifleman (Dir: Terry Loane) opposite Pierce Brosnan, Normal People (BBC/HULU, IFTA Nomination), Derry Girls (Channel 4), Vikings (History Channel), Krypton (SYFY), Hidden Assets (RTÉ), Blood (Channel 5), Black Medicine (NI Screen), Nightride (Village Films) and Barber (Screen Ireland).

Kate Gilmore

Marilyn

Kate has just completed an international tour with SafeHouse, a one-woman show by Enda Walsh and Anna Mullarkey, directed by Enda Walsh, for the Abbey Theatre, which most recently played St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn and the 2025 FIND festival at Schaubühne Berlin.

Previous theatre credits include Theatre for One and Straight to Video (Landmark Productions); Gold in the Water, The President, Piaf, A Christmas Carol, The Great Gatsby, The Snapper and Assassins (Gate Theatre); Light a Penny Candle and Little Gem (Gaiety Theatre and Breda Cashe Productions); Gym, Swim, Party directed by Louise Lowe for Dublin Theatre Festival; The Train (Rough Magic); The Dead (Performance Corporation); and Town is Dead (Abbey Theatre).

TV and film credits include Northern Lights (Deadpan Pictures); Magpie Murders (11th Hour Films, PBS); Striking Out series (RTÉ); The Legends of Longwood (Grand Pictures); and Fair City (RTÉ).

Kate won the Irish Times Irish Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2015 and was nominated again in 2017.

Catherine Walker

Writer and Director

Mark O’Rowe is a writer and director.

His plays include From Both Hips (Fishamble Theatre Company), Howie the Rookie (Bush Theatre), Made in China (Peacock Theatre), Crestfall (Gate Theatre), Terminus (Peacock Theatre), Our Few and Evil Days (Abbey Theatre) and The Approach (Landmark Productions).

He has also adapted several works, including Ghosts (Landmark Productions and the Abbey Theatre), Hedda Gabler (Abbey Theatre) and DruidShakespeare, an amalgamation of four of Shakespeare’s history plays (Druid Theatre Company).

Screenplays include Intermission, Boy A, Perrier’s Bounty, Broken, and The Delinquent Season, which he also directed.

TV includes the series Temple and Normal People.
