Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman star as Lightning & Thunder, the ultimate Neil Diamond tribute act. Based on a true story – from director Craig Brewer who brought us Dolemite is My Name! – it starts when the two singers meet on a state fair singing competition. They recognise each other’s unique talent and also their need to be raised above their rough and tumble origins. They rise up through the ranks, barroom to stadium, until tragedy strikes. Can music redeem them?

Even if you’re not a Neil Diamond fan, Song Sung Blue has an infectious warmheartedness that exudes from Jackman and Hudson’s performances. It’s a delightful tribute to karaoke culture, ‘amateurs’ and wannabes, as well as the power of music to heal us.
