As stated in the opening credits, The Captor (played by Ethan Hawke) is based on the ‘absurd but true story’ of an armed robber who holds up a bank in Stockholm in 1973. As the situation develops, The Captor begins to develop feelings for one of his hostages (played by Noomi Rapace) as we see ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ ring true.
