The Incomer

Outsiders and insiders meet in this heartwarming British comedy. Isla (Gayle Rankin) and Sandy (Grant O’Rourke) have been stuck on a remote Scottish island since the death of their parents thirty years ago. Now government employee Daniel (Domhnall Gleeson) is dispatched to retrieve them, since they have been living illegally. Yet when he gets there, he finds strange customs but also beguilingly close bonds with the sole inhabitants…

Take a pinch of The Banshees of Inisherin, a touch of Local Hero and add dash of The Ballad of Wallis Island and you’ve got the base flavour of this indie comedy. But it’s also sweetly barmy in its own way and a lovely, surprising parable of strangers landing on unfamiliar shores.
