Screenwriter Tony McNamara – reteaming with Colman following The Favourite and his work on Poor Things and TV’s The Great – updates the 1989 smash comedy The War of the Roses with thoroughly modern mores in mind. While bathing in the dark comedy when love turns to hate, it also has plenty to say about the compromises and connections possible in the modern marriage.
