London Theatre Consortium
We are a member of the London Theatre Consortium (LTC).
LTC brings together 14 of London’s leading not-for-profit producing theatres, each different in size and individual missions, but which commit to collaborate on specific projects through a shared belief:
- that working together will help us develop strong strategic and creative initiatives.
- that sharing expertise, practice and resources is a powerful mechanism for maximising efficiencies.
- in the strength of collaboration and the power of a strong collective lobbying voice.
London Theatre Consortium is: Almeida Theatre, Battersea Arts Centre, Bush Theatre, Donmar Warehouse, Gate Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, Kiln Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, Royal Court Theatre, Soho Theatre, Theatre Royal Stratford East, The Yard, Unicorn Theatre and Young Vic.

Anti-Racism and Accountability
LTC has inclusion and anti-racism at the heart of its values and recognises our responsibility to challenge prejudice and be actively anti-racist and accountable to one another. Projects include:
In 2016, LTC founded an Executive Fellowship programme in collaboration with MOBO to help create a more diverse cohort of Executive Directors. We support mid-career leaders with mentoring, shadowing and training. Read more about our 19/20 cohort here.
Representation in Drama
We are pro-active in lobbying for change in the Drama curriculum through our Representation in Drama project. As a result of this work four new texts by global majority playwrights have been added to the Pearson Edexcel Drama GCSE curriculum. Read more here.
Environmental sustainability is embedded into the work of all LTC theatres. LTC has a long-standing partnership with Julie’s Bicycle focused on collaborative leadership, peer working and leading on environmental sustainability in the arts.
We take part in Creative Green, a framework for sustainability action, representing an international community of pioneering cultural organisations driving change.
We are also part of the Theatre Green Book trial to create productions in a more sustainable way from conception to performance.
Our theatres rely on the talent and skills of freelancers: without them, we could not make work on or off our stages. The closure of theatres due to COVID has had a huge impact on our industry’s freelancer workforce; we are working with organisations including Freelancers Make Theatre Work and Fuel to understand the structural challenges that freelancers face and how we can relieve these.
Structure and Governance
LTC’s network is Executive Director led; the pandemic has brought up questions and challenges around the structures and governance of our theatres. We commit to reflection and discussion and offer a sounding board and a holistic support network for those in leadership.
The global pandemic and subsequent events of 2020 have shone a light on the challenges our junior staff face in forging a sustainable career in the arts.
We are committed to welcoming and developing diverse talent, which is essential for the theatre industry to remain relevant. We aim to improve career progression and retention within our theatres and the industry by developing an LTC Career Development programme.
