“A window on to a vast, unfathomable world.” ★★★★★ The Guardian
Lutheran priest Lucas (Elliott Crosset Hove) is sent on missionary work to unforgiving Iceland. Guided by local Ragnar (Ingvar Sigurðsson), he finds the country less than ready for his preaching. Setting himself impossible tasks – like traversing the country by land – he realises his imposition on land and people will not stand.
An epic of man’s attempt to bend the world to his will, as well as a stunning evocation of Iceland’s uncompromising landscapes, Godland takes God’s lonely man and pits him against the elements. Some of the best cinematography of recent years pairs with incredible acting in the follow up to A White, White Day by director Hlynur Pálmason.
