Holy Days

In this spirited New Zealand comedy, nuns go on the run to save their convent. Sister Agnes (Judy Davis), Sister Mary Claire (Jacki Weaver) and Sister Luke (Miriam Margolyes) are the last three sisters of a crumbling convent. Their only regular congregant a young lad called Brian (Elijah Tamati) is dealing with the loss of his mother. When a property developer threatens to sell off the convent, they must travel cross-country to retrieve the deed from their lawyer.

As well as a cast full of familiar faces with a genius for comedy, Holy Days goes beneath the surface of the setting, dealing sensitively with the history of Christianity in New Zealand, as well as the indigenous Māori culture. A warm-hearted and thoughtful trip down under.
