A story of enduring friendship set against stunning alpine scenery, this Italian drama adapts Paolo Cognetti’s international bestseller into a Cannes prize-winner.

Set across two time periods decades apart, we first see teens Pietro – on holiday with his family in the mountainous Aosta valley – and local boy Bruno begin a fast friendship. But the two boys grow apart when Pietro is offered the chance to return with the family to study in Milan. We return to the boys in adulthood, as they undertake a walking tour that will see them span gorges and bridge emotional distances.

Directed by Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch (Beautiful Boy, The Broken Circle Breakdown), this is both a showcase for stunning Italian scenery, and also a poignant character study of what brings friends together and pushes them apart.
