“A piercing, compassionate parable about grace and reconciliation, told with truly Biblical force.” – ★★★★★ The Telegraph

Director Darren Aronofosky (The Wrestler, Black Swan) adapts Samuel D. Hunter’s hit play in a high-watermark role for Brendan Fraser. At over 600 pounds, Charlie (Fraser) is disgruntled by the life choices that have led him to this point in his life. Incapacitated by his large stature, Charlie is now a shell of his former self as he works as an online English teacher, albeit with his webcam perpetually switched off to avoid exposing himself to his students.

The estrangement from his ex-wife and daughter prompted Charlie into a whirlwind of self-sabotage, but a harrowing health diagnosis gives him the epiphany to take control of his redemption. He reaches out to his former family in an attempt to make, but his efforts aren’t always received warmly…

Critics have proclaimed this to be Brendan Fraser’s lifetime best performance, an impressive feat given his resume of audience favourites. Already winning the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actor, The Whale is set to leave a memorable mark, serving one of Hollywood’s most memorable comebacks.
