Harry (Dustin Hoffman) and Niki (The White Lotus’s Leo Woodall) are New York piano tuners, though one is losing his hearing while the other suffers from hyperacusis, an acute over-sensitivity to sound. Yet the apprentice’s talents find a new unexpected outlet in the well-heeled homes they service: safe cracking.

What follows is a surprising mix of romantic comedy and heist drama. Tuner is a winning, characterful drama with plenty of heart and a close ear for dialogue. It’s a treat to see Hoffman back on screens, but the young cast will also crack your heart open too.
